Roozgaar.com announced some tips for the betterment of your professional life: Raising your bliss remainder at work!

Being smiling face at office or workplace happiness is really hard to define! Work has always been a reason of constant irritation and stress for many. Beautiful days seem shady, your tea starts tasting bitter and the soothing voices of your co-workers or colleagues do little to quell the looming twitch in your eyes. You’re panicked, yet reconciled, as you take that last sighing breath before opening the door. You’re at work and you’re miserable! Is there something as a dream job?? Well…There is nothing such as a dream job. The newness and excitement of that once-perfect opportunity tends to wear off after a year, as you become focused on the more important aspects of your tasks, colleagues and boss.

Companies often employ management consultants to discover ways to improve efficiency at work and to foster healthy working environment. They mainly emphasize on processes and procedures. But, there is actually an even more important ingredient for improvement of the workplace productivity: And that is ‘Happiness’! It about loves what you do and this is how one can actually instill productivity in assigned tasks.  Knowing that what you do is important and being acknowledged for it and being constantly energized. That’s because when employees are happy and motivated, the business benefits more efficiently, because happy people accomplish better results with higher quality, and are less vulnerable to stress.
It sounds like some kind of Nirvana, doesn’t it? After all, who doesn’t fancy being happy? But how can you be happy at work even in the face of adversities? And how can you not look at what’s wrong with your job and instead focus on what’s good about it?

Let’s have a look at few easy ways spotted by Roozgaar team to make it possible:

Take a control:

Negativity is agony inside the dying head or is an infectious misery that drains you of energy and saps your excitement. Understand that your happiness is your responsibility. And shifting negative thoughts to positive ones can actually perk up your mood and way of thinking. It is scientifically proved that one positive thought is much more powerful the thousand negative thoughts. Start by making a list of all that’s great about your job, including the fact you have one. Don’t reflect on it. Just feel the gratitude, let it well up and spill over you. This will require constant practice but you can eventually get there. Now from here on, starts dealing with the problems you are facing. They will not only seem less dreadful but you’ll also able to resolve your sticky situations more easily.

Set your goals:

One has to clear with what he/she want. There is nothing more infuriating than working arbitrarily without having a clear understanding of your career path and goals. Without knowing how your work impacts the bigger picture you might as well end up spending a lot of time on urgent but trivial issues rather than tasks that could certainly impact the bigger picture. So clarify in clear certain terms your vision and objectives and focus on whether you are headed to. It is amazing how much you can accomplish once you have perfected your precise goals and the level of contentment you will feel once you have reached your desired destination.
Take a challenge:
Change is the only thing which is constant, otherwise things will get obsolete. Monotony is one of the biggest hurdles to career fulfillment. After a year or so, doing the same thing at work, you might get stuck in a rut. So to get back some of that “new job” enthusiasm challenge you and start doing things a bit differently. Make an effort to learn something new and volunteer for projects that’s outside your comfort zone. Push your limits and get your adrenaline pumping; it may open doors to some unexpected opportunities.
Balanced work life:
It takes a minute to lose but takes months or years to built. It is very easy to lose yourself to work and overlook what awaits you outside the work arena. Maintaining great work/life equilibrium is vital for both your enthusiasm level and general well-being. So take out time for things you love doing outside your work- whether it’s spending time with family or connecting with friends, or simple pleasures like exercising, shopping, reading or other activities and hobbies that channel your energy and creativity. Having something to look forward to after work will not only see you through moments of drudgery at work but will also keep your energy levels and enthusiasm pretty high?
Avoid constant stimulation:

We live in a world of endless stimulation. Sometimes, this creates monotony and restlessness when we run out of things to do. So if you seek happiness, try overcoming this addiction! Develop the capability to enjoy life in its totality – even when the stimulation stops. Appreciate the small things life has to offer and cherish moments you spend with your near and dear ones.
And while happiness alone might not increase work productivity, it’s a pretty solid start.

“For many people a job is more than an income – it's an important part of who we are.
So a career transition of any sort is one of the most unsettling experiences you can face in your life”.

Dream job in Lucknow

On a warm September afternoon, a group of girls huddled round a table in an open air eatery.
Between coffee sips, Christopher Turillo, 34, a trainer from the United States, taught them how to make a bridge using newspapers, strong enough to support bricks.
Ordinarily, this leadership and team-building exercise can be seen in any skill development institute.
Print
But here, a special classroom was at work at the canteen of Avadh Girls’ Degree College (AGDC) on Vikramaditya Marg.
Christopher, an MBA and MA from the US and his friend Byomkesh Mishra, a former bank employee have been working on improving the employability skills among graduation students of this college for a year now.
The idea is to promote job-readiness among them, particularly for those coming from non-privileged backgrounds.
The exercise is part of the project ‘Medha’ which is an Indian-American social setup based in Lucknow.
It is a partner of the National Skills Development Cor poration (NSDC).
Basically, it aims to bridge the gap between the skills demanded by industry and those imparted by the education system.
“It is based entirely on experiential and activity learning techniques and includes a onemonth internship component. Its curriculum has been developed in conjunction with leading employers and is tailored to meet their needs across sectors and industries,” said Christopher.
Currently, the programme is underway in Maharaja Bijli Pasi Government Degree College, apart from AGDC.
The graduation students of this prestigious government-aided college always get involved in extracurricular activities, but here the one-month programme is not just a fun way to spend an afternoon.
It’s a crucial source of skills which the students say, could be their ticket to a dream job after graduation or a higher degree.
Priyanka, a final year arts student who is part of the programme, was always oriented towards a government job.
“I originally got involved because I thought it would be fun, but being part of it has given me so much,” she says. “I’m more confident now and do not mind doing a private job.”
The training that includes on campus classes and outstation tours to high-end hotels and showrooms in Lucknow is the buzzword, both at AGDC and Bijli Pasi College in Aashiana.
Christopher admits that more efforts are needed to train students in the Aashiana college as most of them come from comparatively humble backgrounds.
Tackling the general inclination towards hard-to-get government jobs, students work on ways to boost their chances of finding employment in the private sector.
Toward this end, the programme offers an employability education programme to students studying in public sector colleges, provided on-campus and at a subsidised fee.
“We believe that employability as a process should be incorporated into the education system itself, reducing the need for students to go beyond the gates of their institution to acquire the skills required for gainful employment,” said Christopher, who is an MBA from University of Chicago and MA (International Relations) from John Hopkins University in the US.
Depending on the response, the duo would replicate the programme in other colleges of the city.

‘Aapka roozgaar service pvt ltd’- bringing job-seekers and companies together!

When an individual recruiter of an MNC in the NCR region was quizzed on the hiring process, he said they spend up to five minutes reviewing each individual resume. However, a research study conducted recently quashed such exaggerated claims! In effect, the arduously crafted representation of your professional graph is granted, on an average, merely seven minutes of fame! Naturally, such a limited time allows only a quick scan. Unfortunately, more and more resumes are found trashed in the ‘no’ piles. Reason? Lack of a professionally organized resume format that presents relevant information.

US Airways to help employees

American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Inc. are setting up ways to let their employees pressure lawmakers to support the carriers’ proposed merger, with both a write-in and fly-in campaign.
American’s website to boost its merger with US Airways — newamericanarriving.com — now offers merger supporters an easy way to write officials. The message: Please back the merger and oppose the antitrust lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The new American is about growth, improved service, a broader network and giving consumers another global choice. Tell government and elected officials to let American Airlines and US Airways compete together,” says the page, also open to the general public.
Airline+Mergers+Consumers

The website will automatically create and send a letter to an individual’s appropriate state and federal officials, including U.S. senators and congressmen, based on the writer’s address.
“Let American and US Airways move forward with this merger so that consumers, communities and employees can begin to enjoy the benefits of the new American,” the form letter urges.
“This is one way that you can make a real difference,” the two airlines said in an employee newsletter Thursday. “If every one of our more than 100,000 employees of American and US Airways participates, over half a million letters will be sent to various government and elected officials across the country. That’s quite a statement of support!”
American and US Airways officials also plan an employee “fly-in” to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 17 and 18 to let the employees pressure lawmakers in person.
“During the two-day event, 300 employees from both airlines will visit the Capitol to meet with senators and congressmen in an effort to directly communicate the benefits of the merger for all stakeholders,” American told managers in a “heads up” message Thursday.
“The event will culminate in an employee rally in the middle of Capitol Hill, and all D.C.-area employees are welcome to attend as well,” the message stated.
Justice lawyers filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 to block the merger, arguing that it would lead to higher fares and fewer choices for customers. Joining in the lawsuit are the District of Columbia and attorneys general of seven states, including Texas.
The case is set for trial in U.S. District Court in Washington. D.C., on Nov. 25.

Faster U.S. job

Employers are expected to have added 180,000 jobs to payrolls last month after creating 162,000 in July, according to a Reuters survey of economists. The unemployment rate is seen steady at a 4-1/2-year low of 7.4 percent.
The closely watched jobs report from the U.S. Labor Department on Friday will provide a crucial piece of evidence for the Fed as it debates the future of its $85 billion per month bond-buying program, and it will set the tone for global financial markets.
Policymakers from the U.S. central bank meet on September 17-18 and are widely expected to turn down the dial on the purchases they have been making to keep interest rates low and boost growth.
Fed officials have made clear that they would base their decision on the progress the labor market has made since they launched their third round of ‘quantitative easing’ a year ago. When they pulled the trigger, they were looking at a jobless rate that stood at 8.1 percent.
“You will have to have very poor employment data to really have the Fed delaying tapering. We think that anything above 140,000 will be sufficient for the Fed to taper … We look not only for confirmation that they are going to taper but also the size of the tapering,” said Thomas Costerg, a U.S. economist at Standard Chartered Bank in New York.
If economists’ forecasts are correct, the employment report would suggest the economy remained on a steady growth path despite stumbling early in the third quarter.
Weak July data on consumer spending, home building, new home sales, durable goods orders and industrial production had fanned fears about growth. But those concerns eased this week with reports of solid automobile sales in August, strong services sector growth and a steady expansion at the nation’s factories.
“As long as we don’t see a clunker, we can take comfort that the economy, while not generating as many jobs as we would like, is going in the right direction,” said Robert Dye, chief economist at Comerica in Dallas.
LABOR MARKET IMPROVING
The economy grew at a 2.5 percent annual pace in the April-June period, a pace that is usually considered sufficient to push down the unemployment rate slightly. Many economists expect an acceleration in momentum in the second half of the year.
A gauge of service sector employment released on Thursday hit a six-month high in August, suggesting the possibility of an upside surprise in Friday’s report.
Signs of improvement in labor market conditions have also been evident in the decline in the number of Americans filing new applications for jobless benefits to near five-year lows.
That better outlook will probably make some people who had given up the hunt for work a bit more confident to rejoin the labor force, which would slow the pace at which the unemployment rate might drop.
Declines in the participation rate – the share of working-age Americans who either have a job or are looking for one – to 34-year lows have accounted for much of the decrease in the unemployment rate from a peak of 10 percent in October 2009.
Standard Chartered Bank’s Costerg said he expected the participation rate to stabilize. “So, the unemployment rate would continue to trend down in the coming months, but probably at a slower rate,” he said.
Other details of the employment report are expected to be fairly encouraging, with an anticipated bounce in average hourly earnings and the length of the average workweek, which both slipped in July.
Average hourly earnings are forecast to rise 0.2 percent after dipping 0.1 percent in July. That decline was largely dismissed as payback for a hefty increase in June.
The length of the workweek was expected to rise back to an average of 34.5 hours from a six-month low of 34.4 in July. The drop has been blamed on employers shifting some positions to part-time in an attempt to curb costs they might face under the Affordable Care Act.
“There is a lot of uncertainty around the Affordable Care Act,” said Sam Bullard, a senior economist at Wells Fargo Securities in Charlotte, North Carolina. “There is no clear consensus on how that is impacting the numbers, but that’s something to keep an eye on.”
Last month, the private sector probably accounted for all the anticipated job gains, with government payrolls expected to be unchanged. Factory employment is expected to have increased for a second straight month but any gains will probably be small as employers instead increase hours for existing workers.
Construction payrolls likely fell again in August. Another month of strong job gains is expected in the retail sector, with leisure and hospitality employment also seen solid.

We will hire 400 Engineers

Roozgaar News

HYDERABAD: Pune-based IT player Zensar Technologies Limited chief executive officer Ganesh Natarajan on Monday said the ailing Indian economy will force the IT companies to stay focused on the traditional IT markets such as US and Europe and avoid the domestic market for some time.
“A falling Rupee is a deterrent. There has been very poor decision making in the country. No body is going to look at the domestic market till the economy stabilises. IT companies will focus on the traditional markets – US and Europe,” Zensar Technologies Limited chief executive officer Ganesh Natarajan said while speaking at the sidelines of the IT and ITeS Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITsAP) HR summit here.
On being asked about the IT industry growth in this fiscal, Natarajan said the 13% – 14% growth that has been predicted by IT-body Nasscom was achievable.
“Compared to last year, the situation is much better. There is lot of opportunity as US, UK and Europe markets are in much better shape,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking about the company’s future plans, Natarajan said, the company has appointed an investment banker to scout for acquisition opportunities in areas such as SAP or digital enterprises and the company is looking at a deal size between $25 million to $75 million.
However, he added that the company has not found the ‘right’ target yet but Zensar’s growth will continue even if an acquisition does not take place.
Speaking about the company’s hiring plans, Natarajan said, Zensar will be hiring close to 400 engineers and 150 non-engineers this fiscal.

Nokia deal

Roozgaar News

In a last-ditch effort to catch the mobile-device wave that Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOG) are riding, Microsoft is making a $7.2 billion bet on Finnish phone company Nokia.
Several analysts said the agreement announced late Monday to buy most of Nokia makes sense for the Redmond, Wash., corporation. Given time and Microsoft’s enormous financial reserves, they said, the deal could pose a serious threat to other

gadget makers, especially Apple, which has seen its sales slow and reputation for innovation questioned.
“The idea that Nokia is going to have reserves that eclipse Apple’s would certainly concern me if I were Tim Cook,” said tech analyst Rob Enderle, referring to the Cupertino company’s CEO.
Microsoft will be diving into a hardware business dominated by Apple and phone makers using Google’s Android operating system. Together, they control more than 90 percent of the smartphone market. But Microsoft is a tech titan in its own right, with nearly $80 billion in annual sales, the widely popular Internet communications service Skype, and software that runs millions of personal computers.
Under the deal, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year pending approval by Nokia’s shareholders, Microsoft will buy the Finnish company’s phone business and license its patents. That should be a good fit for Microsoft, some analysts believe, because Nokia’s phones already use Windows. Moreover, they said, it will allow Microsoft to control the production of those phones from beginning to end, emulating how Apple makes its mobile gadgets.
Still, experts said it could take years for Microsoft to significantly boost Nokia’s sales. Moreover, some cautioned that the deal could worsen Microsoft’s relationship with companies like Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), because it would pit Microsoft’s devices against those from HP and other firms that use Microsoft’s Windows software in their products.

Google Employees

Google known for its work culture that includes doses of free perks recently conducted an experiment to analyse the snacking habits of its employees.
Google realized that its workers were eating too much of the free candies and food which needed to be replaced with healthier alternatives at arm’s reach.
The company conducted surveys of snacking patterns through the M&M project, collected data on the proximity of M&M bins to any given employee and conducted experiments by placing sugary foods in opaque containers and healthier snacks in glass jars.
According to the Washington Post, the search giant is known to analyse every corner of its workplace to ensure more productivity and better results.
However, some analysts question whether the free meals, napping stations and inexpensive massages make people stay in the office longer, perpetuating a work-obsessed culture that has eaten into family life and community.
While others said that with such experiments Google is trying to signal that it cares about it employees’ health and its efforts are welcomed by the new employees.
Other than the candy munching habit, Google also tried to promote drinking more water by placing bottled water on eye-level shelves and behind clear glass while putting sugary sodas on the bottom shelves of refrigerators and behind frosted glass which resulted in 47 per cent increase in water consumption after several weeks, reducing the sugary intake by 7 per cent.

Roozgaar: Tips to Conquer Interview Fear

Roozgaar News

Roozgaar: Tips to Conquer Interview Fear

Fear is a normal feeling-especially if you’re a first timer! It’s the fear of the unknown that gives you the uncomfortable jitters and rips you apart. Getting a call for an interview, whether it’s your first or tenth is always an exciting experience but an immensely stressful one. But interestingly, you are not the only one who gets paralyzed with fear and dreads the confrontation. Even the most confident of candidates become a bundle of nerves while facing a prospective employer! Majorly there are two factors that contribute to the interview fear, the first being a more rational one that arises from a lack of preparation and the other a more psychological one that worries you even if you are well prepared.
So, let’s address fears that stem from a job interview and share ways to overcome them:

 Your self-image matters

The image you have about yourself dictates your success! The way you feel about yourself leaves an impact in your mind consciously or subconsciously. But the great news about your self-image is that it can be attuned and managed. So, try and have total control over all the ideas that you hold about yourself. Push away any negative or damaging thoughts about yourself and replace them with positive and affirmative ideas to build a mindset of success.

A lasting first impression

Most candidates dread the worst when they cross the threshold of the interviewer’s office: a place full of people glaring at you and smirking as if to say “who let you in here?” But the fact is, most of them are just as apprehensive as you are. So how to proceed? Well for starters, dress well, feel good about yourself and be natural. Extend a firm handshake while introducing yourself and keep eye contact and, if possible try using the name of the person who’s interviewing you. This not only creates a sense of intimacy but also shows that you are serious about your interaction. Also be ready for small talk! It’s just one of the ways of breaking the ice. Don’t be taken aback if it’s about random stuff like the traffic or whether you managed to find your way or not.

Research the company well

Ideally you would want to get a head start on the interview process much before you walk into your employer’s office. So grab the opportunity and learn as much as you can about what the company’ profile, its products, competition, standing in the marketplace and future plans. Visit the company’s web site or dig up your connections to see if you are connected to anyone who has previously worked or currently working for the company. If possible call them beforehand and ask some questions. Being well-versed in a company’s mission and history not only comes in handy but also helps you decide whether it’s a place you even want to work or not.
Anticipate those tough Questions
Fortune favors the prepared mind and this is particularly true when it comes to a job interview. Be ready for direct questions like “Why do you think you would be perfect for this role?” or basic ones like “What kind of work atmosphere or people do you like to work with?” Then there are the stumpers like: “What are your strengths?” or its killer sister like, “What are your weaknesses?” Consider all these questions and design answers for them much before you walk into your interview room. This is where having a mock interview with a friend, family member or coworker helps you and gives you invaluable experience.
And once the interview is over, draw a line under it and let it go. You can’t go back in time and change anything. So, if you think you have made a mistake, learn from it and use this knowledge for the next one but if you did your best, let that be good enough and don’t let it discourage you in your job search.
